A central Illinois-based agronomist with Beck’s Hybrids has been named the 2025 International Certified Crop Adviser of the Year.
“Really, really blown away. A little humbled in some ways to be standing with a crowd like that.”
Matt Montgomery, who’s spent decades serving Illinois farmers and is currently the agronomy education lead with Beck’s, says it’s one of the ultimate honors in agronomy.
“Needless to say, it has a lot to do with supporting the Certified Crop Advisor program.” He says, “That’s really a standard of excellence, you know, I’ve tried to reiterate the importance of during my career.”
He tells Brownfield the recognition, presented by the American Society of Agronomy, acknowledges an innovative leader in the CCA field.
“I try to do a lot of open access material on social media and kind of guide people with good agronomics,” he says, “like kind of my golden and silver rule of ag which is you treat other people the way you want to be treated and you hand it off better.”
Montgomery also won the 2025 Illinois CCA of the Year Award.
