The Legacy Foundation is pleased to announce awards totaling $10,000 to 6 local organizations. Since the first grant cycle in 2017, the Legacy Youth Alliance has awarded $146,743 to youth-led projects and youth-serving organizations in Wapello County.
The most recent projects to receive LYA grants are:
American Home Finding Association for new Norix furniture for the Agency Emergency Youth Shelter.
Cardinal Community School District for football equipment for the Lil’ Comets Football program.
OCSD Gateway High School for items in their mental health room.
OCSD Gateway High School for End-of-Year Meal Kits for the OCSD school pantry.
River Hills Community Health Center for Healing Hearts: Therapeutic Groups for kids and youth in the community.
YMCA of Ottumwa for scholarships to their Water Wise Swim program.
The Legacy Youth Alliance has two grant cycles each calendar year and awards up to $20,000 a year. The next online application cycle opens on September 1, 2025. Their current funding priorities include, but are not limited to, mental and physical health and food insecurity.
