Police say an Ottumwa man assaulted multiple officers during his arrest earlier this week.
21-year-old Cayden Knott has been charged with two counts of assault on persons in certain occupations – intent of injury (Class D felony), assault on persons in certain occupations – bodily injury (aggravated misdemeanor), two counts of interference with official acts (simple misdemeanor), and disorderly conduct – loud raucous noise (simple misdemeanor).
On March 12 at 10:05 PM, court records say Knott was reported to have caused a disturbance on the 300 block of Pennsylvania Avenue in Ottumwa. Authorities say a witness could hear Knott yelling from several houses away. Additionally, officers observed Knott yelling and displaying an aggressive behavior, according to court documents.
Knott was placed under arrest for disorderly conduct. Knott allegedly refused to place his hands behind his back and pulled his arms away from law enforcement.
After he was placed in handcuffs, Knott was accused of sticking his foot out and tripping an officer, causing him to fall down stairs. Police also say Knott kicked an officer in the groin.
Knott was transported to the Wapello County Jail. While in the jailing/booking area, court records allege that Knott kicked an officer in the knee.
Knott is currently being held on a $5,000 bond.
