In the closing minutes of Tuesday nights Ottumwa’s City Council meeting Mayor Rick Johnson announced he will not run for re-election later this year.
The mayor’s position along with three other council seats will also be open for re-election this fall.
The council seats are held right now by: Cara Galloway, Doug McIntire, and Dan Reid.
Council member Bill Hoffman JR. encourages residents to run to make their city a better place.
Johnson was elected Ottumwa’s Mayor in 2021 after briefly serving on the city council.
