An Ottumwa man faces additional charges after police say he had drugs in his possession during his arrest for forging a check.
30-year-old Jack Hamilton was charged with forgery (Class D felony), possession with intent to deliver methamphetamine (Class B felony), and failure to affix a drug tax stamp (Class D felony).
Court records say on March 13, Hamilton cashed a check at a bank for $420.69. The check included a forged signature of the victim.
A warrant for Hamilton’s arrest was issued on December 1 and he was taken into custody on December 9.
Hamilton was searched after his arrest and police say three medium craft-sized baggies containing approximately 4.1, 4.1, and 3.4 grams of methamphetamine were found in his pants pocket.
Hamilton was transported to the Wapello County Jail. His bail has been set at $5,000.
