Pamela J. Smith, 78, of Ottumwa passed away at 10:38 p.m. October 4, 2024 at Good Samaritan Society-Ottumwa after a long battle with Alzheimer’s.
She was born January 8, 1946 in Cedar Rapids to Harold and Joyce McGrew Helms. She married Robert “Bob” Smith Jr. on June 21, 1964.
A 1964 graduate of Ottumwa High School, Pam had worked at Kustom Kutting and most of her career at Lee’s Photography.
Pam loved her flower garden, music, dancing, traveling with her husband all over the country and most of all, spending time with her grandchildren.
Surviving is her husband, Bob Smith Jr. of Ottumwa; a daughter, Tammy (Troy) DeWitt of Ottumwa; a son, Andy (Stacie) Smith of Pleasant Hill; 6 grandchildren, Ashlyn (Tyler) Archer, Carter (Megan) Thompson, Ella (Sadye) Thompson, Gia Smith, Haven Smith and Charlee Smith; a great grandson, Hudson Archer.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Mike Helms; her best friends, Gene and Cheryl McClure; and her beloved dog, Rowdy.
Visitation will begin at 10 a.m. Wednesday, October 9th at Reece Funeral Home with the family present from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Wednesday. Cremation will follow the visitation.
Inurnment will be in Ottumwa Cemetery at 10:30 a.m. Friday, October 11th.
Memorials may be made to the family for her grandchildren and great grandchildren’s education.
The family would like to thank the loving care that Hospice of Davis and Wapello Counties gave to Pam.
