Richard Montgomery, Superintendent of the Albia School District was a guest speaker at the meeting, and spoke about a School Resource Officer position. They just got word they were awarded 125,000 dollar grant over three years that would mostly pay for the position. With in a year they utilize 25-30 percent of the police force resources during the year, so a dedicated SRO with help offset that. The SRO would be a city employee. The motion to create an SRO position was approved. The contract still needs to be approved.
A recommendation from Planning and Zoning on keeping an alley open was discussed and approved.
Also on the agenda, was a discussion regarding mowing payments, purchasing new computers and selling or destroying the old ones, a discussion on the culvert agreement and the supervisors report.
