A southeast Iowa woman was arrested in connection to a brutal attack at a bar last year.
31-year-old Ashley Barger of Mystic has been charged with willful injury, a Class C felony.
In the early morning hours of June 13, 2023, court records say Barger and the victim were sitting in the outdoor seating area of Gordie’s Bar in Centerville. Barger then allegedly walked towards the female victim, grabbed her head, and repeatedly smashed her face into a table.
According to authorities, Barger then pulled the victim’s hair which pulled her backwards, and began punching the victim in the face frequently. Witnesses broke up the assault and Barger left the scene. Law enforcement secured video footage of the attack.
A warrant for Barger’s arrest was issued on June 20, 2023 and she was taken into custody on August 31, 2024.
Barger was taken to the Appanoose County Jail. She waived her preliminary hearing.
