Stanley Lester Laughlin was born near Douds, IA on February 20, 1941, to Lester and Sarah Liles Laughlin. He married Phyllis Taylor on September 4, 1960, and would have been married 64 years, lacking 8 days. Stan and Phyllis were born a mile apart but didn’t know each other until they were teenagers.
Stan worked at the Pella Rolscreen Company for 9 years. They then moved to Douds, and he worked as a mechanic with his father-in-law. He eventually went to work at Iowa Malleable until it closed. Stan loved working with wood and made many nice things that are treasured by his family. He also enjoyed mowing his lawn. Stan was a member of the Eldon Assembly of God Church. There he enjoyed singing and ministering in song.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Lester and Sarah Laughlin, his sister Frances and her husband Howard Leasure, brother Floyd Laughlin and Grant and Lucille Taylor.
Left to cherish his memory is his wife, Phyllis, daughter, Kris (Dave) Miller and a son, Lester (Cynthia) Grant; two sisters, Esther (Larry) Crow and Mable (Bill) Lunsford; sister-in-law, Jean Laughlin; four grandchildren, Kent Miller, Jed Miller, Samantha Miller, and Skyler Laughlin, as well as many extended family and friends. He will be greatly missed.
