Twylia Grace (Moore) Syferd, 94 of Corydon, IA passed away Saturday, October 24, 2026 at the Wayne County Hospital.
Twylia was born September 17, 1932 to Llyod and Floye (Reed) Moore in Powersville, MO. She received her education from Allerton High School where she graduated with the class of 1950.
Twylia married Dwight Syferd on June 6, 1952 and to this union they welcomed two children, Jerald and Denese.
Twylia was a joy to be around. She enjoyed cooking for her family and friends while spending time with them. She really enjoyed gardening and every year her flowers were just as beautiful as the year before.
Twylia had a love for watching college basketball, mainly the Iowa Hawkeyes but if they weren’t playing, she would watch Iowa State or even the Nebraska Corn Huskers since Fred Hoiberg started coaching in 2019. She was even known for joining in on the March Madness fun and would fill out a bracket. She had a knack for picking out those Cinderella teams and that lead to her winning the contest. She was an avid Caitlin Clark fan and very seldom missed a Fever game.
Twylia’s beautiful kindness and grace will be missed by everyone who knew her.
Twylia is survived by her daughter, Denese Bankus (special friend, Randy Whiteley); grandchildren, Mark Syferd (Missy), John Syferd, Jerilyn Johnson (Joe), Trinity Crawford (Clint); great grandchildren, Tabbitha Syferd, Trevor Syferd, Jillian Syferd, Emmett Syferd, Joey Johnson, Gus Johnson, Bentlee Maupin, Camden Crawford and numerous extended family.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Dwight Syferd and son Jerald Syferd.
Services for Twylia will be held at a later date. Memorials in honor of Twylia may be made to the Richarson Chapel Cemetery or EveryStep Hospice and mailed to Thomas Funeral Home Attn: Syferd family PO Box 294 Corydon, IA 50060.
