Ottumwa Man Arrested After Traffic Stop, Plead Not Guilty

A convicted Ottumwa man was arrested after a traffic stop and allegedly plead not guilty.

28-year-old Miguel Guerrero was charged with possession of a controlled substance, 3rd offense.

On February 24, court records say Guerrero was a passenger in a vehicle during a traffic stop on Highway 34 and Wapello Street. Officers conducted a probable cause search and located two used THC vape carts and a plastic sack containing seven new THC vape carts between Guerrero’s feet.

According to court records, Guerrero has two prior drug convictions dating November 2016 and July 2017.

Court records say Guerrero plead not guilty at his initial appearance on August 4.

Guerrero was taken to the Wapello County Jail. He plead not guilty and is being held on a $2,000 bond. A preliminary hearing will be on August 19.
