Jeanette Lee Klicker, age 70, of Havana, Illinois, formerly of Bladensburg, Iowa, and Seneca, Illinois, passed away peacefully on Monday, August 26, 2024, at Mason District Hospital in Havana.

Born on August 30, 1953, Jeanette, affectionately known as “Ma Klick,” was the beloved daughter of the late Bernice (Thomann) and Clarence “Pete” Payne. A proud graduate of Cardinal High School in Eldon, Iowa, she was an exceptional athlete, earning All-State in multiple sports. She participated in track, cross country, softball, and basketball. Jeanette’s competitive spirit and dedication set her apart and left a lasting legacy. She was one of the best female Cardinal athletes and didn’t even have to try!

On September 11, 1971, in Bladensburg, Iowa, Jeanette married the love of her life, the late Ronald Klicker (a proud member of the IBEW). Together, they built a life centered around family, raising four wonderful children—three sons and a daughter—who became the heart of their world. As a mother, Jeanette was devoted, known for her cooking and baking talents, to name a few, her famous cookies, red applesauce, Thanksgiving pies, and pancakes, which were family favorites.

Jeanette was also a proud Iowa Hawkeyes fan, and her love for sports extended to her grandchildren. She followed their athletics closely, attending as many of their events as possible, regardless of the season. Her support and presence were a constant source of encouragement.

In addition to her passion for sports, Jeanette was an incredible seamstress, creating beautiful pieces with love and skill. She had a deep connection with her dogs, Bear dog and Jack dog, who were her loyal companions during their times. She was also an avid weather watcher! Jeanette also enjoyed shopping and giving out some pretty goofy gifts during Christmas!

Jeanette’s life was rich with love, warmth, and dedication to those she held dear. Her legacy is one of kindness, generosity, and a deep commitment to family. She will be remembered for the countless ways she enriched the lives of those around her, leaving behind memories that will be cherished forever.

Jeanette is survived by her four devoted children, Trent (Melissa) Klicker of Seneca, Illinois, Kelly (Randy) Green of Havana, Illinois, Wesley (Kim) Klicker of Seneca, Illinois, and Ryan (Adrienne) Klicker of Morris, Illinois. She was the proud and loving grandmother of 15 grandchildren, Cole (Cara), Abby (Ned), Maddy (Alex), Casey, Dison, Teira (Keithen), Braelyn, Anna, Cayden, Lexi (Lavonte), Hayden, Leslie, Haylee, Merek, and Jackson. Known affectionately as “Grandma Great,” Jeanette was blessed with six great-grandchildren, who brought immense joy to her life.

Also surviving are her two sisters, her twin, Janeen (Bryan) Morris and Joellen (Scott) McDowell, as well as her four sisters-in-law, Letitia (the late Mike Payne), Jeannie (the late Chuck Klicker), Kathy (Dan) Thrasher, and Jody (Bill) Conrad.

She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, her sister Carol Mace, and her brother Mike Payne.

Her family and friends will remember her for her warm heart, generous spirit, and the deep love she had for her family. Jeanette’s legacy is one of love, kindness, and dedication to those she held dear. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

Funeral services to celebrate Jeanette’s life will be held at 4 p.m. Saturday, August 31st at Reece Funeral Home. The family will be present to greet friends one hour prior to the service. Burial will be in Agency Cemetery Lynn Addition.
