Kelley Sean Swanson, 67, of Ottumwa died at 10:23 p.m. August 12, 2026 at St. Luke’s Hospital in Cedar Rapids.
He was born March 19, 1959 in Ottumwa to Donald E. and Gwendolyn E. Heady Swanson. He married Sara DeVore October 2, 1994.
Kelley was a 1977 graduate of Ottumwa High School. He worked 20 years for Lund International until they closed in 1998, and almost 20 years for John Deere Ottumwa Works, retiring in 2018.
Kelley attended St. Patrick Catholic Church. He was a former member of B.P.O. Elks Lodge #347 and golfed and bowled with the Elks League.
Surviving is his wife, Sara; his siblings, David Swanson of Johnston, Rex Swanson of Omaha, NE and Kristine (Chris) Black of Ottumwa; mother-in-law, Marian DeVore; 2 sisters-in-law, Trisha (Tony S.) DeVore and Lois Shreves both of Batavia; brother-in-law, Lyle Deeds of Iowa City; 14 nieces and nephews, Bryan (Cathy) Swanson, Kent (Wanda) Swanson, Jill (Mike Jones) Swanson, Kari Swanson, Jessie (Jason) Alex, Lindsey (Tim) Kammerer-Black, Kelsey (Ryan) Denburger, Nolan (Holly) Deeds, Brandi (Jake) Conger, Scott (Sheena) Davis, Andrew (Holly) Krouse, Vincent Shreves, Ryan (Amanda) DeVore and Clint DeVore. 21 great-nieces and great-nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Mary Deeds; sister-in-law, Jackie Swanson; father-in-law, Carol DeVore; brother-in-law, Fredric DeVore; nephew, David A. Swanson; grandparents, Elmer and Alma Swanson, Walter and Margaret Heady, Esther Alexander and John Kelley.
Visitation will be open 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday, August 16th at Reece Funeral Home with the family present to greet friends from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday.
Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Monday, August 17th at Reece Funeral Home with Pastor Danny Cary officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery.
