A Burlington man allegedly shot his father in the face after an argument concerning ‘stinky feet’, according to the Burlington Police Department.
48-year-old David Carpenter was charged with attempted murder and child endangerment.
On August 11, court records say officials were reported to a residence on Monarch Drive and David Carpenter was in the front yard. Authorities say David shot his father, William Carpenter, in the face. According to court records, two child were in the residence.
Official personnel transported William Carpenter to the Southeast Iowa Medical Center for non-life-threatening injuries.
According to reports, William Carpenter told police in the hospital that his son shot him because he told David he had stinky feet.
David Carpenter was taken to the Des Moines County Jail. He has a $10,000 bond and a preliminary hearing on August 21.
