An Ottumwa man is accused of brandishing a knife and threatening multiple people Sunday night.

45-year-old Bradley Edgington has been charged with going armed with intent, first-degree harassment, assault while displaying a dangerous weapon, public intoxication, and interference with official acts.

Court records say officers from the Ottumwa Police Department were called to a property on the 800 block of Harvey Street based on reports of Edgington intimidating the property owner and other individuals with a knife.

According to witnesses, Edgington told the male victim he was going to kill the victim and his family. Police say Edgington moved towards the victim and made slashing motions with the knife which caused the victim to move backwards to avoid being cut.

Court documents say officers made contact with Edgington and noticed the odor of alcohol coming from his breath, slurred speech, and bloodshot, watery eyes. Edgington was placed under arrest but he refused to get into the back of the patrol car by tensing his body and pushing back on officers.

Edgington was transported to the Wapelllo County Jail. He is being held on a $5,000 bond.
