A tornado ripped through Henry County on Tuesday, leaving plenty of property damage in its wake.
At approximately 4:30 PM, the Mount Pleasant Fire Department reported a tornado touching down southeast of Mount Pleasant. The tornado traveled down Highway 34 and then made it way through the west side of New London. Residents reported downed power lines and damaged homes. The tornado then tore through Burge Cemetery where it damaged tombstones and leveled a shed.
No injuries were reported from Tuesday’s storm. Anyone with damage to report can call Henry County Emergency Management at (319) 385-1479.
