The Ottumwa Community School District announced it will relocate its District Office to a new, centralized location effective April 29. The district says the move signifies a strategic decision to enhance accessibility and efficiency for students, parents, and community members.

Located at 115 N Ferry St, along the East wing of Evans Junior High School, the new District Office is positioned to better serve the needs of the Ottumwa staff and community as a whole. This move represents the district’s commitment to providing convenient access to administrative services and support for families and stakeholders. The new central location gives more space for meetings, for training, and a better element of confidentiality.

The district office relocation came to fruition due to Ottumwa Schools grade reconfiguration — with sixth grade moving to Liberty, it freed several classroom spaces at Evans.

“A lot of people don’t even know where our central office is, and I think this sends a strong statement that we want to be part of the district,” Superintendent Mike McGrory said.

A parking lot was created along N Ferry St, and access to the Ottumwa Schools District Office will be at the east side of the Evans building.

The Ottumwa Community School District says it looks forward to continuing its mission of empowering students to reach their full potential and believes this move will contribute to achieving that goal. A District Office Open House event will be held near the beginning of the 2024-25 school year for stakeholders.
