Three individuals were taken into custody after Ottumwa police say the trio attempted to break into an ATM early Friday morning.

28-year-old Cary Ray Jones Jr (left) of Fresno, Texas, 32-year-old Zachary Bernard Ray (middle) of Humble, Texas, and 23-year-old Rayvion Deon Reynolds-Flower (right), currently enrolled at Graceland University and formerly of Kingwood, Texas have been charged with first-degree theft, possession of stolen property, and first-degree criminal mischief, all Class C felonies.

At approximately 5:43 AM, the Ottumwa Police Department says it received a report of someone trying to break into the ATM located at Meridian Credit Union on Jefferson by hooking chains to the ATM and using a truck to pull open the door to the machine or remove it from the ground.

Police say the truck was located and it was determined that it was stolen overnight from a hotel parking lot in Oskaloosa.

Another vehicle was located by police which the suspects were using to escape the area, according to authorities. The vehicle was stopped by police and the suspects were arrested and transported to the Wapello County Jail.

After obtaining a search warrant, evidence was gathered from the vehicle which was a rental from Texas, police say.

Reynolds-Flower was also arrested on an outstanding warrant out of Texas for felony theft of more than $30,000 but less than $150,000.
