A motorcycle accident claimed the life of an Ottumwa man Friday morning.
According to Lieutenant Jason Bell of the Ottumwa Police Department, a motorcyclist was involved in a single-vehicle accident at the intersection of Findley and Hancock at 8:49 AM.
The deceased was identified as 42-year-old Steven Charles Grothe.
The cause of the accident is unknown although Bell told Ottumwa Radio News that witnesses to the accident told police Grothe wasn’t speeding.
The accident remains under investigation.
