An Ottumwa man faces a felony charge after police say he entered a home and attempted to stab an occupant on Saturday.

53-year-old Sores Soram has been charged with first-degree burglary, a Class B felony.

According to court records, Soram entered a residence on Ogden Street in Ottumwa and armed himself with a kitchen knife. Soram tried to stab an individual in the home but was forced out by his daughter.

Soram’s daughter shut the door to the home and locked it but police say Soram stabbed the screen door, causing damage to the screen.

Soram was located later on Saturday and arrested.

Soram is currently in the Wapello County Jail. He is being held without bond pending a hearing with a magistrate judge.
