The Ottumwa Symphony Orchestra announced the return of an annual cooking fundraiser – “Divas Who Dish.”

This is a competition for female chefs (mirroring our other major fundraiser entitled “25 Men Who Can Cook”.) OSO asks “celebrity” local chefs to prepare 300 sample-size servings of a pre-dining, entrée, or dessert dish for attendees to taste. In addition to professional judges who declare winners in each category, the folks attending the event are also allowed to vote for their ‘people’s choice’ winner overall. This is a popular event attended by 160-200 people who buy tickets and taste the food, bid on both live and silent auction items, and generally support the Ottumwa Symphony Orchestra with their attendance and wallets.

OSO depends on sponsorships, ticket sales, and live and silent auction contributions for dollars that support all concerts presented by the Ottumwa Symphony Orchestra – a group presenting 6 concerts per season as well as supporting a Young Artist Competition and a Youth Orchestra.

OSO is proud of its impact on the community and appreciates the public’s support as it strives to achieve its mission statement: to inspire, enrich, and build a sense of community through the power of live music.

The presenting sponsor for the event this year is Bridge City Realty, along with additional support at the Copper level from Dr. Kurt Anderson, Yates and Yates Glass, Douds Stone/Norris Asphalt, Dr. Brian Quinn, and two anonymous donors. Those supporting at the Bronze Level are Hy-Vee, Brad Barnes, CPA, and The Stitch Doctor. Tickets are $25 in advance, $30 at the door, and Kids 12 and under are 7:50. Tickets are currently available at the Bridge View Center Office or www.bridgeview.com
