Des Moines – The National Weather Service has issued a wind advisory for today. The wind advisory is in effect from 9 am this morning to 6 pm this evening. Southwest winds blowing 20 to 25 mph with gusts up to 45 mph are expected.

This advisory covers portions of central, north central, northeast, south central, southeast, southwest, and west central Iowa. The counties of Mahaska, Monroe, Wapello, Appanoose and Davis are included in the watch area.

Gusty winds will blow around unsecured objects. Tree limbs could be blown down and a few power outages may result. Winds this strong can make driving difficult, especially for high profile vehicles. Use extra caution.
