Michael Earl Beggs, 67, of Ottumwa, died at 2:44 p.m. February 5, 2024 at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City.
He was born December 19, 1956 in Ottumwa to Elvin Earle and Rose Mary Courtney Beggs. Mike married Kimberly Howard and they later divorced.
Mike attended Ottumwa High School and later attended classes at DMACC. He moved to Altoona in 1987 and then to Pleasant Hill. Mike worked at Colonial Bakery in Des Moines and as a custodian at 801 Grand Ave. In 2006 he moved back to Ottumwa.
Mike attended Simpson United Methodist Church in Des Moines, where he was baptized. He was a member of Sons of the American Legion. Mike enjoyed riding his Harley, mushroom hunting, fishing and camping.
Surviving are children, Jesse Cozad, Justin Beggs of Des Moines, Ryan Beggs of St. Petersburg, FL, Katelyn (Justin) Beggs-Evans of Midlothian, TX and Natelyn (Erick) Villalobos of Cleburne, TX; 6 grandchildren; and siblings, Debra (Chris) Shaw, Sandra Beggs and Hazen D. Beggs, all of Ottumwa.
He was preceded in death by his parents and step-father, Bill Ward.
His body has been cremated. Memorial services will be 10 a.m. Friday, February 9th at Reece Funeral Home with Chaplain Doug McAntire officiating.
The family will be present one hour prior to the service to greet friends.
