Doran Bolin, 87, of Ottumwa, IA passed away on Tuesday, August 18th 2026, at the Hospice Comfort House in Pella, IA. Per Doran’s wishes his body has been donated to the Deeded Body Program at the University of Iowa for research. No services are planned at this time.
Doran retired from John Deere Ottumwa Works in 1997 after 34 years of being an invaluable field test mechanic. Doran fulfilled his retirement years by tinkering in his shop, watching his Hawkeyes and bringing his spirit to the Iowa State Fair annually.
Surviving is his son, Randy (Lisa) Bolin of Ankeny, his four daughters, Ronda (Aaron) Brown of Ottumwa, Lori (Rob) Mitchell of Fairfield, Tonya (Dan) Gross of Des Moines, Kibben Whitham (Kevin Manz) of Fairfield. Grandchildren, Britt, Kelsey, Wyatt, Kaelyn and Sy and great granddaughter, Isabel.
