An Ottumwa man is behind bars after police say he had improper contact with a child.
40-year-old Herinton Jacklick has been charged with second-degree sexual abuse (Class B felony), indecent contact with a child (aggravated misdemeanor), and assault with intent to commit sexual abuse (aggravated misdemeanor).
According to court records, from May through August 2023, Jacklick fondled and committed a sex act with the victim, who was 10-11 years old at the time. The incidents allegedly occurred at Jacklick’s residence on Chester Avenue in Ottumwa.
A warrant for Jacklick’s arrest was issued on December 7 and he was taken into custody on the same day.
Jacklick is currently in the Wapello County Jail. He is being held without bond.
