Mickey “Mick” Allan O’Leary, 56, of Ottumwa, died on April 11, 2023 at Ottumwa Regional Health Center.

He was born on September 19, 1966 in Ottumwa to Dorothy and John O’Leary. Mick was married to Denisa. Mick and Denisa started dating in April of 1989 and became husband and wife on April 15, 1994. They spent 34 years of their lives together.

Mick graduated from Ottumwa High School in 1985. He was currently employed as a General Foreman at Clow Valve Co. in Oskaloosa, IA.

Mick was an avid Kansas City Chiefs fan and loved watching football. He also had an extremely good sense of humor and never hesitated to blow up his family’s phones with “Dad’s Daily Deals,” jokes, recipes, funny pictures/videos, and anything else he felt needed to be shared. Above all else, he was a loving father and husband. He enjoyed spending time with his wife, kids, and grandchildren the most. He was the first person his kids would call if something went wrong. Whether it was needing something fixed on a vehicle or anything home related, he was there to help. Mick was also quick to give advice when it came to life in general. He offered support to those he loved in every way he knew how. Mick was the heart and soul of his family and will be incredibly missed.

Surviving is his wife, Denisa O’Leary; 4 children, Jessica (Aaron) McIntyre, Mickey O’Leary Jr., Kassidy O’Leary, and Aarron O’Leary (Destiny Barker); 4 grandchildren, Emma McIntyre, Michael “Mikey” Simmons Jr., Molly McIntyre, and Ember O’Leary; 4 siblings, John (Carol) O’Leary, Tim (Amanda) O’Leary, Kathy (Ron) Giberson, and Pat Cravens; along with many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Dorothy and John O’Leary; his daughter, Misty O’Leary; 4 siblings, Tom O’Leary, Mike O’Leary, Denny O’Leary, and Maureen Merchant; and a nephew, Dale Paris.

Visitation will be open after 8 a.m. Sunday, April 16th at Reece Funeral Home with his family present to greet friends from 9:30 a.m. to noon Sunday.

Graveside services and burial will be 1 p.m. Sunday, April 16th at Cedar Township Memorial Cemetery in Fremont.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the family to be designated at a later date.
