Iowa State University Extension and Outreach — Keokuk County will host several Continuing Instruction Courses for commercial and private pesticide applicators this fall, according to a press release from the organization.
All courses will be held at 400 220th Avenue, Suite A in Sigourney, beginning at 9:00 a.m. with each session lasting up to three hours. Topics covered across the courses include personal protective equipment and safe handling, professionalism, pesticide storage and chemical security, and pest management. Some courses will also offer Certified Crop Adviser Continuing Education Units. Preregistration is encouraged as walk-ins may not be guaranteed admission, and early registration saves $15 on most courses.
The schedule is as follows:
October 21st — Forest, Aquatic and Right-of-Way (Categories 2, 5, and 6). Register by October 14th for $45; $60 after the deadline.
November 4th — Ornamental and Turfgrass Pest Control (Categories 3O, 3T, and 3OT). Register by October 28th for $45; $60 after the deadline.
November 17th — Non-Soil Fumigation (Category 7C and private applicators certified to apply fumigants). Register by November 10th for $45; $60 after the deadline.
November 18th — Ag Pest Control (Categories 1A, 1B, and 1C). Register by November 11th for $45; $60 after the deadline.
December 1st — Aerial Applicator (Category 11). Register by November 25th for $45.
December 9th — Pest Control Operators (Categories 7A, 7B, 7D, and 8). Register by December 2nd for $70; $85 after the deadline.
Attendance at a course does not automatically renew an applicator’s certification with the Iowa Department of Agriculture and Land Stewardship.
