Main Street Ottumwa is inviting businesses, churches, nonprofit organizations, clubs, and community groups to help make this year’s Witch Way to Main a memorable Halloween celebration for local families.
The annual downtown trunk-or-treat will be held on Thursday, October 29, from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. on East Main Street in downtown Ottumwa. Families will be invited downtown for an evening of trick-or-treating and other Halloween fun.
Main Street Ottumwa is now seeking organizations interested in hosting a decorated trunk during the event. Participating businesses and organizations can decorate a vehicle, distribute candy or other giveaway items, and share promotional information about their organization with attendees. The cost to participate is $25, and reservations will be accepted through October 16 or until available spaces are filled.
“Witch Way to Main is one of those events that really comes alive because so many different parts of the community participate,” said Kris Patrick, Executive Director of Main Street Ottumwa. “We want businesses, churches, clubs, nonprofits, and community organizations of all
kinds to come downtown, decorate a trunk, and help us create a fun experience for local families.”
Participants are encouraged to get creative with kid-friendly decorations and activities, and Main Street Ottumwa will host a contest for the best-decorated trunk. Organizations are also encouraged to prominently display their name or logo as part of their setup.
Main Street Ottumwa anticipates more than 1,000 children will attend the event, giving participating organizations a unique opportunity to engage with families from across the community while helping provide a safe and festive Halloween experience downtown.
