Farmington will once again come alive with music, fellowship and small-town hospitality during the Farmington Bluegrass Festival & Jam, set for September 4–5 at Indian Lake Park.
The annual Labor Day weekend tradition brings bluegrass music and visitors from across the region to the southeast Iowa community. While the music is the main attraction, organizers say the festival is also an important part of Farmington’s community spirit and local economy.
Visitors who come for the festival often spend time at local restaurants and businesses, purchase fuel, visit area parks and explore what Farmington has to offer. Many return year after year, bringing friends and family along with them.
The festival’s continued success is the result of a community effort. Volunteers, local businesses, the American Legion and Indian Lake Park all play a role in keeping the event going. Michael and Janet Browning are also among those helping carry on the tradition.
For residents, the weekend is about more than filling the park with music. It is an opportunity to welcome visitors, support local businesses and showcase the friendly spirit that makes Farmington special.
