Randall Hubert Schmitz, 69, of Ottumwa died at 1:56 a.m. July 2, 2026 at his home.
He was born June 28, 1957 in Riverside, CA to Harry and Barbara Colby Schmitz. Randy married Teressa Marie Lee June 25, 1988.
Moving to Iowa at age 8, he attended Cardinal Schools. Randy had worked in a Foundry at a young age and had also worked at Everco. He worked 35 years in construction as a union carpenter.
Randy was a member of ABATE of Iowa in districts 12 and 14. He loved rebuilding and riding his Harley. Randy had many friends who he enjoyed riding with. He also enjoyed deer hunting and shooting his guns.
Surviving is his wife, Teressa; 3 children, Dawn Teen Whicker of Ottumwa, Siarra (CJ) Haag of Boone and Cody Schmitz of Ottumwa; 4 grandchildren, Joey Schmitz, Angela (Rico) Nunez, Anthony Whicker and Teran (Destiny) Haag; 6 great grandchildren, Daxtyn, Ellana, Ariana, Jaxson, Leighton and Kaiden; his father, Harry Schmitz of Flagstaff, AZ; and a brother, Robert Schmitz of Mexico.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Barbara Farnsworth; a sister, Denise Curtman; and a brother, Ronnie Schmitz.
Visitation will be open at 10 a.m. Wednesday July 8th at Reece Funeral Home with family present to greet friends from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. Wednesday. Cremation will follow the visitation.
