An Ottumwa man is facing a theft charge after an alleged shoplifting incident at Walmart.
According to court records, officers with the Ottumwa Police Department were dispatched to Walmart, located in the 1000 block of Venture Drive, at approximately 6:39 p.m. on June 30.
A criminal complaint alleges that 47-year-old Christopher Anderson of Ottumwa concealed merchandise on his person before leaving the store without paying for the items.
Court documents state Anderson later admitted to stealing the merchandise. The total value of the stolen items was reported at $86.94.
Anderson was taken into custody and transported to the Wapello County Jail. He was later released on an order of disposition.
He is charged with theft, a simple misdemeanor.
