A Wapello County man is back behind bars after authorities served an arrest warrant stemming from a 2025 traffic stop that allegedly led to the discovery of marijuana and methamphetamine.

On June 1, the Wapello County Sheriff’s Office served an arrest warrant on 41-year-old Johnny Walker of Ottumwa.

According to the criminal complaint, the investigation stems from a traffic stop on March 3, 2025, during which Walker was a passenger in the vehicle.

Court documents state that Walker told law enforcement he was in possession of a controlled substance after officers advised that they would be conducting a probable cause search of the vehicle.

According to court records, Walker removed a bag of marijuana from his pocket. During a subsequent search, deputies allegedly found another bag containing a crystalline substance that field-tested positive for methamphetamine.

Court records indicate there have been multiple court hearings related to the case. Walker had previously been released from the Wapello County Jail on prior drug convictions.

Walker is currently being held in the Wapello County Jail on a $15,000 cash-only bond.

He is charged with two counts of possession of a controlled substance, Class D felonies, and two counts of probation violation.
