Authorities responded to a report of harassment that escalated into threats, a physical altercation, and a confrontation with responding officers.

On May 9th at approximately 10:44 p.m., the Knoxville Police Department responded to the 400 block of Rock Island in Knoxville in reference to a harassment complaint.

According to the criminal complaint, Rose Gillson, 65, of Knoxville allegedly threatened Victim #1 and pushed Victim #2.

Upon arrival, law enforcement officers reported that four individuals independently identified Gillson as the person who pushed Victim #2. Officers made contact with Gillson and instructed her to place her hands behind her back; however, she allegedly refused to comply.

Court documents state that officers attempted to take Gillson into custody, during which she pulled away from their grasp. Officers were initially unable to successfully apply handcuffs. A second attempt was made, during which Gillson again allegedly resisted by pulling away.

Investigators also noted statements from witnesses indicating Gillson threatened to run over Victim #1 and damage Victim #1’s truck if it was not moved. Victim #2 advised officers that Gillson pushed them, and in response, Victim #2 pushed Gillson back, causing her to fall to the ground.

A no-contact order was issued on May 10. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for May 19.

Gillson was later detained in the Marion County Jail and subsequently released on a $1,000 cash/surety bond.

She is charged with Harassment in the Second Degree (serious misdemeanor), Assault (simple misdemeanor), and Interference with Official Acts (simple misdemeanor).
