Thomas Edward Romanco, age 88, of Lovilia, Iowa, passed away April 13, 2026 at the West Ridge Specialty Care.

Tom was born December 1, 1937 to Frank and Mary (Paveglio) Romanco. He married Donna Cochran January 17, 1959 at the St. Peter’s Catholic Church in Lovilia, Iowa. He graduated from Lovilia High School in 1956. In his early years he worked in construction and was a crane operator. He joined the International Operating Engineers, Local 234 in 1972, retiring in 1996. Tom enjoyed attending sports events of his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. In his early years, he liked gardening and hunting. He liked doing woodworking for his family and friends, donating several items to the JDRF benefit.

He is survived by his wife Donna; sons: Mark (Jan) of Des Moines, Dan (Lorie Thomasson) of Lovilia, Mike (Mary) of Pleasantville and Kelly (Jenny) of Albia; ten grandchildren: Anne (Nick) Washburn, Jillian (David) Ginger of Norwalk, Jenna (Craig) Kelly of Polk City, Molly Romanco (Cody Trostel) of Rhode Island, Kyle (Jessica) Romanco of Pleasantville, J. D. Romanco of Lovilia, Michael (Courtney) Romanco of Des Moines, Ryan, Hannah Romanco and Macey (Chad) Lathrop of Albia; eighteen great-grandchildren: Taylor and Grace Washburn of Des Moines, Avery Washburn, Cole and Jack Ginger of Norwalk, Dillon Romanco (Lily Villalobos) and Lily Romanco, Jonesy and Maddox Romanco of Pleasantville, Emma and Aubrey Romanco of Des Moines, Dessie Romanco (Josh Lenger) Stetson and Slayton Lathrop of Albia, Kaia Trostel of Rhode Island. Sister: Dolores Huyler of Santa Rosa, California. Sisters-in-law: Carolyn Woodward of Moravia, Norma Thomas and Alta (Gene) Daniels of Centerville; brothers-in-law: Ed (June) Cochran of Centerville and Ted (Shalise) Cochran of Hays, Kansas and many nieces and nephews. Tom was preceded in death by his parents, a granddaughter in infancy, sister, Janice Bailey; sisters-in-law; Judy Whitlow and Wanda Tomlin; brothers-in-law, Bruce Huyler, Jerry Tarbutton, Ron Bailey, Gene Thomas, Jerry Woodward, Bill Rogers, Larry Sprouse, Jim Cochran and Dean Tomlin.

Visitation will be at 9:30 to 11:00 before the memorial service at 11:00 on April 18, 2026 at the Sinnott Funeral Home in Albia, Iowa with Brad Gray officiating. Inurnment will be at the St. Peter’s Catholic Cemetery in Lovilia.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Juvenile Diabetes Foundation or St. Peter’s Cemetery Fund.
