Naomi May Heckart, 99, of Ottumwa, died at 8:23 a.m. March 10, 2026 at Good Samaritan Society-Ottumwa.
She was born March 12, 1926 in Ottumwa to Adolphus and Emma Hoyt Davis. Naomi married Gerald Heckart on November 20, 1965 and he preceded her in death on March 16, 2006.
A 1944 graduate of Ottumwa High School, Naomi graduated from Indian Hills Community College Nursing program in 1964 as a Licensed Practical Nurse. She worked at Ottumwa Regional Health Center in housekeeping and then as a nurse.
Naomi had been a member of Willard St. United Methodist Church and Sweet Adelines Women’s Barbershop Chorus.
Naomi is survived by her daughters, Susan (David) Fitzmaurice of Geneva, IL and Rebecca “Becky” (Richard) Shanks of Columbia, MO; 5 grandchildren, Emily Harness, Amanda Harness, Jeremy Harness, Beth Thomas and Ashley Robertson; 4 great-grandchildren, Jeremiah Harness-Kemp, Taryn Harness-Kemp, Noah Harness and Emry Turner.
She was preceded in death by 2 brothers, Charles Davis and her twin, Bob Davis.
Visitation will be open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday, March 15th at Reece Funeral Home. The family will be present to greet friends one hour prior to the service on Monday.
Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Monday, March 16th at Reece Funeral Home with Pastor Jeremy Skinner officiating Burial will be in Shaul Cemetery.
