A Knoxville woman is accused of assaulting her husband and a responding officer on Wednesday.
On October 15, the Knoxville Police Department was called to the 1000 block of Jefferson Street in Knoxville for a verbal domestic abuse incident involving Jessie Wilson, 52, of Knoxville, and the victim.
Court records indicate that Wilson and the victim are married and share children together.
After questioning both Wilson and the victim, the authorities decided it would be best for the two parties to part ways for the night.
Court documents indicate that while the victim was attempting to leave, the officer stood in the doorway. Wilson approached the officer and ordered him to move. Wilson then allegedly slapped the officer on the right forearm as the officer was trying to step aside.
Law enforcement stated that while the victim was about to walk out the door, Wilson grabbed the victim, hugged him, and tried to persuade him to stay. Then, Wilson slapped the victim in the face.
Wilson was arrested and transported to the Appanoose County Jail. Wilson is facing charges of domestic abuse assault causing injury or mental illness (1st offense, serious misdemeanor), interfering with official acts resulting in bodily injury, and assault on a person in certain occupations (aggravated misdemeanor).
The preliminary hearing is scheduled for October 24. Wilson is currently is in the Marion County Jail on a $2,000 bond. She’s been ordered not to have any contact with the victim.
