A Fairfield man is facing multiple charges related to domestic abuse after allegedly assaulting his romantic partner and later violating a court-issued protection order.
Scott Selix of Fairfield has been charged with domestic abuse assault (first offense) and violation of a no contact/protective order, both simple misdemeanors.
The charges stem from an incident that occurred on August 30th outside a residence where Selix and the victim were engaged in a heated argument. According to police reports, a witness observed Selix strike the victim in the chest during the altercation. The third party who witnessed the assault subsequently contacted law enforcement.
Court documents indicate that Selix and the victim had been in a romantic relationship for approximately one year and were living together at the time of the incident. This marks Selix’s first conviction for domestic abuse assault, as he has no prior record for similar offenses. Despite the victim’s request that no protective order be filed, the court issued a no contact order as part of standard procedure in domestic violence cases. Selix was initially released on his own recognizance.
The situation escalated just three days later when Selix allegedly violated the court-issued protection order. On September 2nd, around 12:00 PM, police responded to reports of contact between Selix and the protected party at their residence.
According to law enforcement, there was a verbal altercation and when Selix learned that police had been called, he fled the scene on foot along with the victim. While Selix initially denied any contact with the protected party, officers located the victim in the nearby area. She eventually confirmed that contact had occurred, directly violating the terms of the protection order.
At his initial court appearance, Selix entered a plea of not guilty to all charges and requested a pretrial hearing. The judge set his bond at $1,000 cash or surety, a significant increase from his initial release on recognizance. A pretrial conference has been scheduled for October 9, 2025, at 10:00 AM.
