A Packwood man is facing multiple charges, including assault and operating a vehicle while intoxicated, following a domestic incident that occurred last week in Jefferson County.
According to a criminal complaint filed with the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office, authorities were dispatched to a residence on Birch Avenue following a report of a man setting his girlfriend’s clothes on fire last week on Wednesday, August 13th, 2025. While en route, officers were advised that the suspect had become physically confrontational with family members who attempted to intervene.
Upon arrival, officers learned that the suspect had assaulted both his mother and stepfather during the altercation. According to their statements, the suspect shoved his mother as she tried to prevent him from burning the belongings. When his stepfather attempted to intervene, the suspect slapped him in the face twice and then spat in his face. Both victims reported the assaults to law enforcement and expressed their intent to press charges.
The suspect, later identified as Quinton Gainer, 22, of Packwood, fled the scene on a purple motorcycle before officers arrived. Shortly afterward, a motorcycle matching the description was seen traveling eastbound on 125th Street near Packwood Road.
Gainer was confirmed as the rider and told officers the motorcycle was malfunctioning. Officers noticed that his right hand was bloody, which Gainer claimed was due to punching a television earlier in the evening. While Gainer attempted to adjust his motorcycle, officers noted that he appeared unsteady as he lost his balance while kneeling. He showed visible signs of intoxication including watery eyes and the smell of alcohol. Gainer proceeded to fail the field sobriety tests and was given a Preliminary Breath Test, which registered above the legal limit. He later consented to give a sample of his breath to the Datamaster DMT, which returned a blood alcohol concentration of 0.142—nearly twice the legal limit.
Gainer was arrested and transported to the Jefferson County Correctional Facility. He was charged with the following:
Operating While Under the Influence – 1st Offense (Serious Misdemeanor)
Assault – Intend to Cause Pain/Injury (Simple Misdemeanor – Two Counts)
He was released on a $1,000 bond and his arraignment will be on September 2nd. He has a preliminary hearing on September 3rd.
