The Knoxville Hospital & Clinics Foundation has received a $500,000 gift from Don Long and his family to support the creation of the Margaret Long Women’s Imaging Center.

The new center will provide women with a more private, comfortable and convenient setting for imaging services at Knoxville Hospital & Clinics. It is named in memory of Margaret Long, Don’s wife, who passed away in July 2025.

Margaret was a longtime Knoxville resident and dedicated educator who spent 31 years in education, including many years teaching fifth- and sixth-grade students in Knoxville.

“Margaret had a tremendous impact on this community, and we are incredibly honored that her legacy will live on through a space dedicated to caring for women in our community,” said Kevin Kincaid, CEO of Knoxville Hospital & Clinics.

Construction began in mid-August in the hospital’s former OB/Infusion Center space. The renovation will bring mammography, ultrasound and DEXA services together in one convenient location. The project is expected to be completed in December.

The center is being designed to offer a calm, welcoming environment where women can prioritize their health while benefiting from easier access to multiple imaging services in one location.

Don Long said the gift is a meaningful way to honor his wife’s dedication to the Knoxville community.

“Margaret loved Knoxville, and she loved the people who make this community such a special place,” Long said. “She spent her career caring about children and their families, and I know she would be humbled to have her name associated with a place that will care for women in our community.”

The contribution continues the Long family’s longstanding support of Knoxville Hospital & Clinics. Don and Margaret previously made a significant gift to fund the Don & Margaret Long Infusion Center, which opened in 2024.
