The Keosauqua City Council held its regular monthly meeting Tuesday afternoon at City Hall, getting underway right at 4 p.m.
One of the main topics of discussion was the ongoing park renovation project. Matt Manning was on hand to give an update. So far, the city has received $457,000 in donations and pledges to help fund the improvements. According to Manning, the next steps include removing the old fencing and concrete. After that, work will begin on the parking lot, brand-new bathrooms, and curbs.
Manning added that a meeting still needs to be held with the Iowa DNR to determine where water and sewer lines will go for the new restrooms. If all goes according to plan, the project should be completed by August 1st.
Also attending the meeting were Richard Nichos and Joy Pagent, who shared information about new rental housing being developed in the area. Pagent noted that currently, about 76% of housing in Keosauqua is occupied by single families, with the remaining 24% being rentals.
