The Iowa Natural Heritage Foundation invites the public to take part in a volunteer stewardship event at the Mathes Woodland property just outside Pella on Thursday, May 8, from 9:30 a.m. to Noon.
Volunteers will help hand-pull garlic mustard weed, one of Iowa’s most invasive plant species, to support the health of the state’s woodlands.
The Mathes Property covers 51 acres of oak and hickory savanna, woodlands, and wildflower-covered hills, overlooking the South Skunk River floodplain.
- No prior experience is necessary
- Guidance and gloves will be provided
