The Centerville City Council held its first meeting of 2025 on Monday.

After the consent agenda was approved, the council approved bills and the financial report for December 2024.

Chief Tom Demry of the Centerville Police Department was the first to provide a department report, and he went over the arrests and traffic citations that involved the department last month. Demry says four officers completed the sergeant interview, and another officer graduated from the law enforcement academy in December and is halfway through his field training program.

Chief Vern Milburn of the Centerville Fire Department says the department responded to four general fire alarms, two structure fires, one smoke investigation, and two motor vehicle accidents in December.

Mayor Mike O’Connor swore in two new sergeants in the Centerville Police Department: Jimmy Bates and Chris Donahoo. After the ceremonies, Chief Demry remarked that the department was fully staffed for the first time in four years.

Finally, the council approved resolutions for the 2025 fiscal year salary resolutions Amendment 1, conveying an alleyway in Drake’s first addition, and conveying real property at 202 West Wall.

The next council meeting will be held on January 20.
