Police say a southeast Iowa man was allowed to access an account to withdraw money but took more than the agreed-upon amount.
53-year-old Michael Meyers of Keokuk was charged with second-degree theft, a Class D felony.
On October 31, court records say Meyers was given access to the victim’s debit card under the condition that he would take out approximately $300. According to the Ottumwa Police Department, Meyers made multiple ATM and point-of-sale transactions and withdrew a total of $2,463.17.
A warrant for Meyers’ arrest was issued on November 18 and he was taken into custody on November 25.
Meyers is currently housed in the Wapello County Jail. His bond is set for $5,000.
