Hazel Catherine Berry, 91, of Ottumwa died at 1:30 a.m. July 13, 2024 at Good Samaritan Society-Ottumwa.
She was born July 27, 1932 in Stephenson, MI to Robert and Theresa Dluhos Sterling. She married Dr. Joseph Berry on January 18, 1951 and he preceded her in death on February 12, 2012.
Hazel had worked for the Ottumwa Community Schools from 1968 to 1994 at Evans Middle School as a cafeteria manager.
She had been a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church in Ottumwa.
She enjoyed doing arts and crafts and spending time with her grandchildren and family.
Surviving are her children, Jane (Roger) Scales of Ottumwa, Janine (Sam) Scott of Colorado and James (Lucy) Berry of Arizona; 6 grandchildren, Jordan, Halsey, Brandon, Zachary, Felicia and Drew; many great grandchildren; a brother, Robert (Doris) Sterling of Florida; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; 2 brothers; and 6 sisters.
Her body has been cremated. Private graveside services and inurnment will be in Shaul Cemetery.
