Joyce Ann (Woolverton) Hagan, 78, passed away at her home in rural Hedrick, IA. She was born October 29, 1945, at the Fairfield Hospital in Jefferson, County, the daughter of Charles and Alealta (Denny) Woolverton. Joyce was raised in the Farson area. The family moved to Tennessee but returned to the Farson area after a couple of years. She attended school in Hedrick, IA. She graduated from Diesel Mechanics School in LaSelle, IL, and attended Indian Hills Community College in Ottumwa where she completed two years in Karate. She farmed in the Delta area for 11 years. In addition to farming Joyce worked at Dick’s corner in Sigourney. She later worked for Dr. Dick Kelley, and for her aunt and uncle Robert and Bertha Quaille for 11 years. She also helped Glenn and Kathleen Williams in Delta. In addition to farming and working in town she was her grandmother’s primary care giver for many years.
Joyce was united in marriage to Bobby Hagan August 28, 2002, in Sigourney, Bobby passed away in 2004. Her hobbies include mowing and mechanical work. She attended the Open Bible Church in Ottumwa and she volunteered at church functions and volunteered in Delta during Delta Days.
She is survived by her 3 brothers; Elmer, John, and Ellis Woolverton, 4 sisters; Darlene Murphy, Linda Smith, Betty Burke, and Mineta Woolverton, 9 nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Bobby; her parents; grandparents; and her in-laws.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, July 16, 2024, at 1:30 p.m. in the Fremont Funeral Chapel with Reverend Bill Hornback officiating. Burial will be in the Mt. Zion Cemetery. The Fremont Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements. Visitation with the family present will be held on Tuesday, July 16, 2024 from 12 noon until service time at 1:30 p.m..
