An Ottumwa man was arrested after allegedly asking for revealing pictures from a minor.
23-year-old Montell Rivers was charged with sex offender registration violation.
In January 2021, Rivers allegedly began communicating with a 12-year-old female through social media. Court records say, during a consensual interview, Rivers admitted to asking the victim for nude pictures.
Rivers was charged with Sexual Exploitation of a Minor. He pleaded guilty in September 2022, and was given a two year suspended sentence. Rivers was also required to register as a sex offender for 10 years. According to authorities, Rivers failed to do so and a warrant was issued for his arrest in December 2022.
Rivers was taken into custody on June 12, 2024. He is located in the Wapello County Jail where his bail is $10,000.
