Motorists in Ottumwa should be aware of updated schedules for paving work on West Finley Avenue and Shaul Avenue.
On Thursday, October 8, 2026, the “Y” section of West Finley Avenue, located on the northeast corner of Wildwood Park near where the road connects with McKinley Avenue, will be closed for milling and paving work. The work is expected to take one day, weather permitting.
Once the West Finley Avenue “Y” section is completed, work will begin on Shaul Avenue Thursday afternoon, October 8. Shaul Avenue will be closed for paving work from West Finley Avenue to West Mary Street.
The Shaul Avenue paving project is expected to continue through Saturday, October 10, with the roadway anticipated to reopen by the end of the day, weather permitting.
The start of the Shaul Avenue work has been moved up from the previously announced schedule. The overall project timeline remains unchanged, but work is now expected to begin approximately half a day earlier.
Motorists should plan for delays and use alternate routes when possible. Drivers traveling through the area are urged to slow down, use caution and watch for workers and equipment in the work zones.
All work is weather permitting, and schedules may change as conditions require.
