The Ottumwa Fire Department is congratulating members of its first academy class as they officially complete their year of probation.
The firefighters have spent the past year working alongside their crews, gaining valuable experience and serving the Ottumwa community after completing their initial firefighter training.
The department recognized the accomplishment as an important milestone in the careers of the newest members of the fire service.
The firefighters have also continued their professional development through additional training. Most recently, members of the department’s newest firefighters completed Hazmat Technician training, strengthening their ability to respond to hazardous materials incidents.
