The Iowa DNR has identified two northeast Iowa men who drowned after their fishing boat hit a submerged object in a pool of the Mississippi River near Dubuque Saturday afternoon.
They are identified as 62-year-old Wayne Ameskamp of Dyersville, and 61-year-old Michael Donahue of Bellevue. A third passenger in the boat, 62-year-old Sharon Ameskamp of Dyersville, was also thrown from the 166-foot fishing boat struck the object. She was able to swim to shore and was rescued by passing boaters.
