Today is a time to recognize the men and women who serve in the United States Navy and honor the service’s long history of protecting the nation.
The U.S. Navy celebrates its birthday each year on October 13, marking its founding in 1775. Established by the Continental Congress during the American Revolutionary War, the Navy has grown into a global maritime force.
Today, the Navy carries out missions around the world, including protecting U.S. interests, supporting national security, conducting humanitarian operations, and maintaining freedom of navigation.
The birthday is also an opportunity to recognize the sailors who serve, along with the families who support them throughout their military careers.
If you know someone who serves or has served in the Navy, take a moment to thank them for their dedication and sacrifice.
